Gerald Barber is a certified general appraiser, registered landscape architect and licensed real estate broker.
Gerald has performed conservation easement and other specialized appraisals and real estate consulting on
environmentally sensitive lands for numerous clients throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas,
South Carolina and Tennessee since 2002. Prior to being elected as Tax Assessor of Madison County (one of
the fastest growing counties in the US) in 1988, where he is in his sixth consecutive term, Gerald was President
of Oak Lane, Inc, a landscape architecture, land planning, and development firm for 16 years.
His passion for the outdoors has extended far past his professional career. He has volunteered over 30 years
of service with several regional and nationwide conservation organizations including being the former
Chairman of the National Wildlife Federation, the former chairman and co-founder of Republicans for
Environmental Protection Educational Foundation and the former Vice President and co-founder of the Delta
Land Trust Association.
